Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) not only has had a negative influence on the health of individuals globally, but it has also mentally and physically affected healthcare professionals. In this first episode, also in light of Mental Health Awareness Month, we discuss the effect of the pandemic specifically on the health of rheumatologists and rheumatology providers and how this, in turn, may have an impact on clinical practices and delivering patient care.

Our featured guest is Max I. Hamburger, MD, founder and executive chairman at United Rheumatology, managing partner at Rheumatology Associates of Long Island, and the president of the New York State Rheumatology Society.

Featured Guest Max I. Hamburger, MD is the founder and executive chairman at United Rheumatology,  managing partner at Rheumatology Associates of Long Island (RALI), and the president of the New York State Rheumatology Society. He served as the chief of rheumatology at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, New York, from 1988 until 2006 and has been emeritus assistant professor of clinical medicine at SUNY Stony Brook, New York, since 1980. Dr Hamburger was the lead author and author of over 50 publications. He has been honored by the Arthritis Foundation for his service to the Long Island Community, receiving the Regina Quick Award for Medical Excellence. He can be reached at: [email protected]
