Telerheumatology is booming now, but will the use of technology persist after the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic resolves? Could it be the new normal?
In part 2 of this series, we’re getting perspectives from an allopathic and an osteopathic physician specializing in rheumatology on the evolution of telemedicine and what the future may look like for the management of rheumatologic conditions.
Our featured guest is Zsolt Kulcsar, DO, MPH, MBA, section chief at White Plains Hospital Physician Associates and physician lead of telehealth services and medical director at East Post Road Ventures in White Plains, New York.

Zsolt Kulcsar, DO, MPH, MBA, is the section chief and physician lead at White Plains Hospital, New York.
Dr Kulcsar is a practicing rheumatologist at White Plains Hospital Physician Associates and is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology. He completed his training in internal medicine at New York Presbyterian Queens, and went on to complete a dual rheumatology fellowship and preventive medicine residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
During his time at Dartmouth, Dr Kulcsar also obtained a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice. As part of his Master’s program thesis, he studied quality improvement in telerheumatology services at his fellowship program at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. His research focusing on the intersection of telehealth and rheumatology was published in Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism. His work has been presented at national meetings in both rheumatology and the American Telemedicine Association.
He is currently the physician lead in telehealth services at White Plains Hospital and works closely with the telehealth service at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. He has obtained a Masters in Business Administration from Long island University and also serves as the medical director of East Post Road Ventures, White Plains Hospital’s Innovation Center. Dr Kulcsar has a passion for the use of technology to improve access to care and clinical outcomes.
